CHICKPEA SMASH

Chickpea Hummus

This is an amazing swap for mashed potato - even great for those who don't like chickpeas. 

They won't even taste them!

  

Chickpeas can be used as a complex carbohydrate. 

They offer more dietary fibre, protein, calcium, magnesium, folate, b vitamins and will not spike blood sugar levels like white potato will, so are a great alternative to mashed potato.

Ingredients

400g can organic chickpeas, drained and rinsed thoroughly

OR

400g dried chickpeas (soaked overnight in water)

1 clove fresh garlic

3 tbs extra virgin olive oil

Juice of 1/2 lemon

2 tbs organic natural yoghurt

OPTIONAL

Herbs of your choice

Spices

Avocado (for a creamier texture)

Dukkah

Method​
 

  • If using dried chickpeas, boil in a saucepan of water until soft.

​​

​

  • Add all ingredients to a food processor (or nutribullet-like appliance) and blitz until a smooth paste forms

​

  • Serve.  It's as simple as that!​
